Shauntay D. Alexander, LCSW, LADAC II
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Addiction Counselor. I have a passion to help people reach their maximum potential and their greatest dreams. Whether you are looking to recover from a history of trauma or to set your future up for success by establishing goals that will help you reach your destiny, a little guidance can take you a long way. I offer you a wide range of counseling and psychological services to guide you through life's challenges and your most trying times. Life can get difficult, and sometimes a little help from a professional can make things better. I care about your well-being and can provide all the tools in order to seize the day and learn how to tackle even the most traumatic circumstances. I bring into each session my experiences as a trauma therapist, addiction counselor, mental health specialist, life coach, case manager, advocate and veteran, along with my own personal journey as one who has also had to seek professional assistance in rewriting my story. I have been trained in many different modalities that I incorporate into my own unique counseling style, which include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Mindfulness Therapy, Life Coaching and my own personal experiences. I strive to help those learn how to help themselves by enhancing their strengths and strengthening their shortcomings.
I have a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from University of Phoenix and a Master's degree in Social Work with a concentration in Mental Health and a sub-concentration in Military Social Work from University of Southern California. I have worked with women in recovery from addiction, victims of sexual and domestic violence, those struggling with mental health, veterans, couples, families and people in general who are looking to enhance their overall well-being. As a Retired Captain of the United States Army Reserves, I have extensive experience working with Veterans. I am passionate about my continued work in assisting my fellow Veterans and Service Members with their military trauma, post service readjustments and transitioning, benefits and other resources. My practice has a special emphasis on Military Sexual Trauma (MST) and provides counseling, education and help with filing a claim.
My philosophy encompasses the idea that you can take all of your struggles, traumas, triumphs and victories and make them into the story of your life as you are the one who determines how your story continues and how your story is told.
